Sweet Adeline’s Print Ad and Photography

As I was drafting my last post and looking through my Facebook page, I realized I completely missed blogging about the Sweet Adeline’s photo shoot and print ad that I did way back when (before I had my sweet 2 1/2 month old baby).

One Saturday a few months ago, I loaded up my photo gear and headed to Sweet Adeline’s.  I took photos of the art classes, and then set up a few shots of the store itself.  However, the real reason I was there was to take photos of Adeline, the inspiration for the store.  After Addy warmed up to the camera, I got several very cute expressions from her.

The print ad design uses the graphic element of Sweet Adeline’s logo to highlight Addy’s happy face.

Shay

Just six days after Sal’s maternity photo shoot, baby Shay was born.  I spent the afternoon with Shay and her mommy and daddy and took lots of photos of her when she was 2 weeks old.  I had some new props to use and she was a good little poser (and then she fell asleep).  :)

Sal’s Maternity Photos

Since moving to Alaska, I haven’t done too much with the photography side of my business.  However, this winter, my friend Sal asked me to do her maternity photos and then her newborn photos.  It was nice to pull out all my photo equipment and get to work behind the camera again.  We’ve known Sal and Shane since we lived in Ohio at the same time and they are a fun couple to work with.  First up are the maternity photos, which we are lucky we took when we did.  The next week Sal went into labor and had a beautiful baby girl.

Photos on Display

I currently have photographs on display in the offices of the American Red Cross at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda Maryland. This all came about because my friend Ingrid (whose wedding I photographed last year) was working at the American Red Cross in Bethesda and was in charge of redecorating their offices.  She called me up with an idea.  She wanted to use some of my photographs to make a gallery of sorts.  So, I spent a while going through my photos from the past few years picking out my favorites.  Then I sent a whole bunch for her to choose from.  Here are few of the ones she chose, and how they look in the new offices.   If you’d like to see all the photographs that are on display and/or purchase a print of the photographs, click here.

The May Family

It unfortunately wasn’t springy enough to do any of the newborn photos outside.  However, once spring hit, my friend Rachel called me to take some family photos before I moved.  I had a wonderful time working with Rachel, Nathan and Gabe, and was so happy I was able to spend an afternoon with them.  I love their fun-loving spirit and how they weren’t afraid to goof-off (just like my family).  Thanks again May Family!  I had a hard time narrowing down the photos to post, so this one will probably be longer than usual.  I just loved some of the facial expressions and really had to share:

Taylor

My first maternity shoot with Shelly led to my first newborn baby shoot with her little one Taylor.  Our first session took place when her whole family was in town to meet Taylor.  I enjoyed meeting the grandparents and great-grandparents and doing family photos.  Then, later in the week we had a whole afternoon to focus on her pretty little face (and some other cute parts too).

The Saville Family

I had the pleasure of working with the Saville family several times before we left Ohio.  We did a Christmas shoot (which I somehow haven’t posted about before) and then we had a maternity shoot. Coming soon I’ll share with you the photos of baby Patrick.  But first,  I’ll start with Christmas and show you the card I put together for them using our favorite photos from the shoot:

savillechristmas2I loved Leyna’s idea of tying a bow around her belly with the “Do Not Open” tag.  It turned out so nice.

Now on to the maternity photos. The spontaneity of having a small child around made for a lot of funny moments and added an extra bit of delight to the photos.  Have a look:

Rogan

The Gruber Family

Recently, I took photos for my friend Jana.  She wanted a new family photo and some individual shots of her children.  We started with her almost 4 year old son, who was very shy and not very happy being in the spotlight.  He was dressed in his Batman costume in hopes of getting a superhero shot for his new superhero themed bedroom.  Luckily, I ended up with one good shot (before Batman began dismantling his outfit) and made a background scene for “batman” to be a part of.  Jana tells me I need to make a “superhero” package to offer.  I’ll get to work on that. :)

Her little girl was very happy to model for the camera and we took some photos of her playing the piano.  Thanks for a fun day!
